Your money is protected until you're satisfied
When you accept a bid, your payment is captured and held securely by Stripe — the same payment infrastructure used by Amazon and Shopify. It doesn't go to the pro until you tap “Release Payment” after the work is done.
If something goes wrong, open a dispute right in the app. We review the before and after photos from both sides and make a fair decision — usually within 5 business days. You are never forced to pay for work that wasn't completed.

Common questions
Is my money safe if the pro doesn't show up or does a bad job?
Yes. Your payment is held in escrow and never released until you either approve it, or — after a 72-hour review window — doBid conducts an internal review and releases on your behalf. Release isn't automatic; a person at doBid reviews the job before any release. If there's a problem, open a dispute before the window closes — our team reviews the before and after photos and makes a fair decision. Do not release payment if you have unresolved concerns.
How do I know the pros are qualified?
doBid is a marketplace — we don't pre-screen or vet pros, and we don't guarantee their work or credentials. What we do is: every pro must complete Stripe's identity check for tax/payment purposes before they can receive payouts; doBid is restricted to non-license-required home services only (pros agree at signup not to bid on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, gas-line, or structural work); and after each job, homeowners leave ratings and written reviews that are visible to you before you accept any bid. Pros with poor ratings can be removed from the platform.
Is there a fee for homeowners?
Homeowners pay the winning bid plus a flat 3% service fee at checkout. Pros pay a tiered fee deducted from their payout (15% under $500, 12% for $500–$1,999, 9% for $2,000+). Pros only pay when they get paid.
What happens after I post a job?
Local pros in your area are ready to bid. Posting a clear title with good photos and a few details about the job helps them quote quickly and accurately. As bids come in, you can compare prices, ratings, and reviews, and message any pro directly through the app if you have questions before accepting.
What if I'm a pro and a homeowner disputes my work unfairly?
You have 48 hours to respond to any dispute with your own evidence — including the after photos you upload at job completion. Our team reviews both sides before making any decision. This is why we require after photos: they're your protection. Disputes are resolved by a real person, not an algorithm.
What kinds of jobs can I post?
Junk removal, handyman repairs, landscaping, painting, pressure washing, gutter cleaning, furniture moving, deep cleaning, TV mounting, assembly, fence and deck work, and similar non-license-required home services. doBid doesn't currently support electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, gas-line, or structural work — those trades require a state license.
